Snow and Afghans

We woke up to between 3 and 4 inches of snow today.

We went from a warm and sunny Monday with a high of 77F to snow on the ground on Wednesday with a high of 30F. I don't think the kids care how cold it is though. Whoever is left in the 'hood is outdoors having snowball fights, while I hug my ginger tea and shiver indoors!

Thoughts of winter sent me scurrying to pull out my current 5 year project, a crocheted airy diamond afghan.

I started this on the California Zephyr in July last year so I am well over a year into it. About two-fifths of it is done. It takes me about an hour to do each row of 273 stitches. If I keep up this pace, it might be ready well before its time!

I am not cooking for Thanksgiving this year as we were invited to our neighbor's for the meal. I guess tandoori-style cornish hens will just have to wait a while.

I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!

Thats so beautiful afghan Manisha. Very nice color. I am trying to crochet something too, but I cannot follow all the instructions in the instruction sheet, I get confused in between :(.

Lovely picture of the snow, Manisha! And thats a beautiful looking Afghan too! haven't crocheted in a long, long time.....

On an aside, seeing the words "snow" and "Afghan" together reminds me of "Afghan Snow" :-D.

Have fun with your neighbours for Thanksgiving! Its really sweet of them to invite you over.

Have a wonderful time :).

Happy Thanksgiving Manisha, and gorgeous afghan! It looks like a complicated pattern, best left to mature hookers. :-) My grandmama was a ferocious crocheter too, but she always said it made her @$$ sore...

I'm done now. I accidentally snorted my coffee. Have a good time, eh?

I clicked on the link at FBD expecting it to be some take off on 'afghan snow', but no...this was about an afghan, and real snow :)

Lovely crochet manisha!

Wow, it's not much different here in Iowa. Monday was beautiful and Wednesday, the weather man said Des Moines was getting a trace- got 2-3 inches, instead.
Happy Thanksgiving, Manisha.

You are so lucky - you have snow, a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner that you didn't even have to cook...wine and music, ad great knitting to snuggle up to...the only thing missing is a fire...In addition, it looks like the beautiful afghan will get done this season!

I brought out my (one year old) knitting project too last week and actually knit about 4 inches!

Thank you for all the compliments! Now if I get it done, then that is when I think I will deserve all your lovely words!

Shilpa, get some fat on those bones! Take up simple patterns. I find it very relaxing!

Alpa, I let Medha decide on the color. I would have probably picked red. ;-D

Musy and Aspiring Annapoorna, I thought Afghan Snow would be too corny so I didn't use it!

Bee, that would be a dream come true! Except I want to take it back from California and I don't know if we go through the Rockies in the daytime on that route. The Sierra Nevadas are also gorgeous but I thought the Rockies were more spectacular. The pics on that post are taken through the windows which were not very clean so there was not much I could do to improve the quality.

Pel, you know I would ask someone to spank you but you would probably enjoy that so I am not going to suggest that! Mature hookers! LOL!

Rachna, I've been knitting since I was a little kid. I started with headbands and then since my tension was the same as my Mom's, I'd help her with the sweaters she'd knit, esp the stockinette stitch.

You're making a poncho?! Wow! Show us how you're doing! I'd really love to see it!

MarysMom, more snow tomorrow! But it may all be gone by the time you get back. Or I can hope that it will be gone by Sunday! It is going to warm up to the 40s. Drive safely!

Anita, no fire! I do want a fireplace in my bedroom but then when I think about it I probably don't. It will be one more thing to keep clean! Yay for knitting and these so-called "old world" skills. :-D
