Come fall, and we start to yearn for a trip to the Butterfly Pavilion in nearby Westminster, Colorado. It's one of Medha's favorite places because she gets to hold some creepy-crawlies in her hand. Like this caterpillar...
and Rosie, the 5 year old tarantula...
She is more interested in these than in the gorgeous butterflies that flutter by!

Yes, but she still gives me the heebie-jeebies. I've never held her. She's quite the icon around here. You get "I Held Rosie" sticker after you hold her.

We went to Butterfly Pavilion when Mary was 2 (she's now 5), she was not terribly impressed by it, then, so we have not gone since. Seeing your photos I think she would love these creepies as much as Medha does. Thanks for the reminder.
Ask me! Even though i handles silkworms all through my draduate studies, i still can't bring myself to touch any other caterpillars!! THere used to be an Eri silkworm, which is huge, that i would get jitters about :). And even though lots of people study spiders and their silk, i can never dream of doing that-i am just scared!! I can appreciate them frm a distance though. Medha is BRAVE! heebie-jeebies : how true! But i must say that Rosie looks good.
I am terrified of creepy, crawly creatures.
In admit...I simply can't do that :(...the kids are braver though,much braver :)
I have a mixed feeling seeing Rosie.. both creepy and yet beautiful till I am holding it on my hand..hehe..:D Brave Medha indeed..:)

Big kudos to medha for being so brave! I would be afraid standing 10 feet back. Creepy crawlies make my skin crawl.
